India: CBI arrests senior manager of New India Assurance Company

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Senior Divisional Manager of New India Assurance Company Limited, Hoshiarpur (Punjab), for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
A case was registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, on a complaint alleging that the complainants firm was providing generator set services to the New India Assurance Company, Hoshiarpur, for the last five years and his contract for the year 2014-15 expired on March 31, 2015.
CBI sources said he submitted fresh quotations for the contract for the next financial year 2015-16.
